I have designed for as long as I can remember.
From an early age, I had my right hand on a mouse and my left hand on a keyboard - making whatever I could in Print Shop on my 1st IBM PC to print on my black and white dot matrix printer.
I studied Computing Systems at Unitec, with my interest not only in design but also how computers worked and how to bring my designs to life in the real world.
To this day, I remain inquisitive and curious in everything I do.
At my 1st job at Yellow I became a “jack of all trades” - tinkering in all aspects of web design. I taught myself HTML, CSS, Photoshop, Fireworks and ultimately found a passion in creative interactive experiences in Flash.
At Yellow, I was a regular on our customer helpdesk, assisting customers and gathering feedback on bugs & improvements. By the end of my time at Yellow, I had become a fully fledged UI designer & front-end developer. Although dated by today’s standards, www.finda.co.nz still uses my design and Front end build.
After Yellow, I joined Mediaworks and grew to lead the production of high impact ad units across their numerous, high-traffic websites.
I learnt a lot during my 4 years there, user testing & refining numerous interactive ad units while analysing campaign results, to improve our engagement for our clients.
While at Mediaworks, I enjoyed leading my team of 4 designers play their parts in 3 months of record sales.
In 2015, a mentor asked me to join Vector. I joined as their sole in-house designer, keen to experience a new industry and also take up the challenge of growing design from “the ground up” within an organisation.
From Vector, I joined Mercury - eager to stay in the Electricity industry but get even closer to the customer & their pain points.
When offered a job in the startup world, I jumped at the chance to join Boxer - keen to add skills outside of corporate where I would be able to not only build product but a business as well.
For over 10 years, I also freelanced a web designer - where I have extended my skills beyond corporate, building & designing over 50 Wordpress & Shopify sites from scratch.
